VESTA TAYLOR LIGHTING

By Sabe Fink

Vesta Taylor is a designer covering South Alabama and Northeast Florida. “When I was just a little girl, I made and decorated dollhouses for my paper dolls, and ‘redecorated’ frequently” she remembers. “I was always coming up with ways my mother could make our house prettier – my own idea of pretty.” Taylor has reached a milestone in her design career with the opening of her Fairhope custom lightning boutique. “Over the years, I became more and more focused on lighting design. I began to sketch unique lighting fixtures, and now I am focused on building my own line. I create indoor electric lights, chandeliers, sconces, and lamps, as well as gas lanterns for outdoor installations.”

Each of Taylor’s custom-designed creations is named for a beloved family member. The first named fixture is the Dominica, a circular chandelier that is available in a choice of metal finishes. One of her favorites is the Kristen, named in memory of her beloved daughter-in-law. This is a gas light with dual flames, wider than the usual gas lantern, and featuring unique inlaid arches. Another is the Jaide, a wall sconce with an elongated backplate and a 4 ½ inch crystal accent. Others carry such names as Benton, Creed, and Vesta. There are currently about a dozen custom designs available, with more in the works.

In addition to her custom creations, Taylor carries a variety of high-end lamps, sconces, and chandeliers from selected manufacturers, and she offers a carefully curated selection of accent pillows and home accessories. As a full-service interior designer, she is available for consultations on a wide range of home design projects.

Vesta Taylor and her husband relocated to the Fairhope area from Greenville, AL, and are in the process of building a home in the Fish River area. She is excited about sharing her designs with homeowners, designers, and builders in the area. “I try to live by the motto I have chosen for my business and my life – “Let your light shine!” Matthew 5:16.
