Randy Peterson and Peterson Precision Painting have been on the Northwest Florida scene for over 32 years, providing a full range of residential and commercial services, including indoor and outdoor painting, staining, caulking, drywall repair, and restoration work. Peterson grew up in Oklahoma and first moved to the panhandle when his father was in flight training. He fell in love with Florida, and as a young adult made his way back to find a job and seek his fortune. Peterson found a job as a painter, making $4.00 an hour, and things progressed from there. Through the years, he was able to build Peterson Precision Painting into what it is today – a multimillion-dollar company with roughly sixty employees, on the payroll, including his son and his daughter. His shop includes an industrial storage area dubbed “the hangar,” where equipment is stored and specialty painting jobs are completed. “We’re definitely invested in the company, and in the Pensacola market, although we have done jobs from the Alabama coast as far east as Gainesville,” he says.
Peterson’s workload is split evenly between luxury residential and large and small commercial projects. “We have built relationships with developers and builders,” he says. “We have a lot of repeat clients.” The company does exterior and interior painting of the highest quality, on new and existing homes, and even paints metal roofs. They can remove cabinets and take them offsite to the hangar, which has a spray booth, paint them, and reinstall them. They can paint concrete floors, fences, just about anything that needs painting. Their operation in the office and in the field runs smoothly, thanks to Peterson’s daughter Chelsey Peterson Fowler and her colleague Jordan Brown.
When asked about advice to the homeowner contemplating painting, Peterson immediately says that the client should above all be sure that the painting company is insured. The employees should be easily identifiable – with name tags, company shirts, uniforms, and the like – and they should drive a truck with the company name, logo, or phone number clearly displayed. These things demonstrate professionalism and convey a sense of pride, image, and work ethic. “These things help to create a brand, and show that the employees are qualified and trained,” says Peterson. Peterson’s professional team has been working together for over twenty years, making them stand out among all the rest in North Florida.
