Home Design Direct takes a fresh, modern approach to coastal and transitional decor with a team of onsite experts and over 125,000 square feet of showrooms, building product selections, and furniture inventory as well as interior design services.

Well-known along the Gulf Coast for its fresh, modern approach to coastal and transitional décor, Home Design Center is proud to call Foley, AL home. Design Manager and Interior Designer Lori Lumsden, a current Allied member of The American Society of Interior Designers, has spent over 30 years specializing in and leading residential and commercial design projects. Her use of soothing coastal tones with complementary neutral colors and elegant use of texture has quickly become her signature.

As with Lumsden’s flair for all things coastal, there is a warm, friendly, energetic vibe that extends throughout Home Design Center’s entire redesign and remodeling team of experts. Boasting more than 125,000 square feet of feature showrooms, building product selections, and furniture inventory as well as interior design services by the Design Studio, Home Design Center offers services for all home renovation and design projects. The large showroom facility provides homeowners with the opportunity to plan every element of their home design and remodel project – including custom cabinetry and furniture, countertop and flooring installations, furniture purchases, and interior design projects – under one roof alongside design and product experts.

Remodels on the Rise

Lumsden’s recent recent full remodel of an 8,000 square foot, five-bedroom, five and a half bath waterfront home brings it solidly into the 21st century, Her use of fresh, modern coastal decor leaves this home with a whole new look.

Quickly flustered by the numerous decisions, homeowners looking to remodel regularly seek professional design assistance with the overall direction of their project. The vast number of options alone often leaves one feeling bewildered and unsure. The team at Home Design Center understands building production and provides professional guidance as well as in-fashion but classic design recommendations, and has the industry experience to suggest product options with home value – and the homeowner’s budget – in mind.

The Builder Showroom at Home Design Center is equipped to assist with the selection process when building a new home. “The product specialists and designers guide a client through the building process to alleviate the stress on both the client and builder, all while adhering to their budget,” states Lumsden. The showroom features full-scale kitchen and bathroom vignettes, custom cabinetry options, onsite stone countertop inventory such as marble and granite, and a selection of plumbing fixtures and hardware options to complement the project’s design aesthetic. “Homeowners can get a lot done for their home right here in one location,” offers Operations Manager Brian Zolnierek. “We make it possible for people with a limited amount of time to get the maximum amount done in one stop,” he continues.

Unique to Home Design Center is the indoor Stone Showroom, which not only protects the marble, granite, quartz, and quartzite from outside elements but provides an easy, climate-controlled shopping experience. Expert tradespeople custom cut each countertop onsite using state-of-the-art fabrication equipment, including a special slab smith machine to ensure a seamless fit and grain flow. Home Design Center’s installation experts survey each project, measure, and install the final product.

For clients looking to add craftsman detail and character to their home, the Custom Woodworking Shop not only creates custom cabinetry and unique furniture pieces, but tailors wood detailing for ceilings, feature walls, and islands. Also boasting design backgrounds, cabinet makers specialize not only in custom designs, but custom designs using reclaimed lumber.

“We use reclaimed lumber to create furniture, mantels, beams, and more,” says Zolnierek. “We currently have reclaimed lumber from a Pennsylvania farm built in the 1800’s available to us.” As with countertops and custom stonework, their team of experts will measure and install the cabinetry.

Interior Design Services

Professional interior designers in the Design Studio help define the style and aesthetic of a home or project. Experts in their field, the interior designers are also Allied members of the American Society of Interior Designers. “Often, a homeowner sees a picture or has an idea they would like to use in their home, but cannot pull the look together,” says Lumsden. “Our designers help implement those ideas and bring them to fruition without making costly mistakes.”

The team – know for fresh, modern coastal decor – is on-trend with the latest in interior design and has experience with all aesthetic options, including coastal, mid-century, minimalism, and updated classic traditional. In-home consultations set the tone for design services as well as the style of the project. With 4,000 square feet of the showroom dedicated solely to furniture, interior design experts demonstrate unique furniture pieces and customized looks for each space.

Since opening, Home Design Center has worked with clients throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast, assisting with projects to create timeless updates and personalized classic design selections to their home.
