Spring Brings New Life to Real Estate Market

Spring is an exciting time along the Florida Gulf Coast. The weather is amazing, and the visitors are excited, as are the locals. Real estate buyers and sellers are excited too - they are ready for change, ready to let their properties shine like the Florida sunshine. According to John Baldree, a realtor with Mainsail Realty Company in Miramar Beach, the market is strong, and interest rates are inching downward, which will certainly help spike new sales. “We definitely see economic stability in the greater Destin market,” Baldree notes. “The winter was a bit slow, but spring, and the harbinger of lower rates, brings new excitement to the market. Buyers are excited by the overall real estate climate, and renters who came to escape the weather to the north look around and think that they have discovered more than just a vacation - they see the possibility of a new way of life.”

All this adds up to an opportunity to embrace a new lifestyle and a new home. Young people with growing families perceive value in the small town ambiance, the beautiful beaches, and the moderate climate. These young people have already embraced the reality that they no longer need to live and work in the same place. More and more people of all ages, not just youngsters, have come to the conclusion that they can work where they live rather than need to live where they work. All these factors contribute to a growing sense of economic stability in the market.

There are signs all over the area that support the reality that the market is taking off. One such tangible sign of the strong market is the Publix shopping center under construction in the very heart of Destin. This retailer has an astute understanding of the market’s dynamic potential, and their commitment is a true vote of confidence in the market. “This isn’t all about a new supermarket,” says Baldree. “Rather, it’s about confidence in the community, in the market, in the demographics. In short, it’s a new draw for property owners, renters, vacationers, and retirees. Plus, it is a much-needed facelift for the center of Destin.”

In summary, according to Baldree and others who follow market trends, the greater Destin real estate climate shows fair weather going forward, with gradual relief in mortgage rates, and an overall sense of economic stability and growth.
