Within five years of opening their doors, Don Adkins and his team have established Carrot Top Designs as the premier partner for homeowners and builders who want quality products and services. The luxury design firm’s mission to serve its clients by “building lives and building homes” while operating as a faith-based company has led them to craft homes for global celebrities, top-tier commercial architects, investors, and homeowners alike.
“My father was in the development industry for more than 20 years before he started Carrot Top. He saw the industry’s need and wanted to provide the solution for his clients to help them save time and money,” said Adkins’ eldest daughter, Taylor Simpson, who is also the company’s Vice President. She continued, “Building a home, or even just remodeling one, requires many different specialties and services that typically require clients to work with multiple companies for a single project. The problem we’ve all faced when using that method, which is the problem [Adkins] was adamant about solving, is that the projects would often get delayed if even just one person dropped the ball on communication or slacked on ordering necessary materials. At Carrot Top, we’ve eliminated that risk by offering everything in-house, from full interior design services to furniture and decor, unique building materials, custom cabinetry, closets, and so much more.”

Simpson went on to share that their new 30,000 sq. ft. design center features a trendy coffee cafe – The Patch, a team of TowneBank loan officers, Emerald Coast RoofScapes, Emerald Coast Pools, and KSJ Heating & Cooling to ensure their clients have everything they might need for their projects.
Since serving its first client in 2018, the family-owned and operated company has experienced impressive growth. The first Carrot Top Designs showroom was 3,000 sq. ft. They quickly outgrew this corner retail space in Miramar Plaza as their services and teams expanded: “We were bursting at the seams at the old location. Our team is so excited to be in the new larger space, and we’re confident our new showroom will allow us to serve our clients to the absolute best of our abilities.” Simpson said.
The Vice President, who also designs cabinets and leads the company’s retail division, shared, “Nothing about our process is copy and paste in our selection process. We provide our clients with full 3D renderings of their planned projects, including layouts with all their property’s specifications. Clients love seeing the whole project completed in the 3D rendering because it helps give them peace of mind and allows them to visualize the space before ordering building materials and furniture.”
The new home of Carrot Top Designs, which conveniently sits just across the highway from its original location, features unique products and building materials sourced domestically and internationally from the industry’s top suppliers. Each piece displayed in the design center is carefully curated by a team of trained specialists who know quality craftsmanship when they see it. And offering furniture, decor, and art styles ranging from coastal to mid-century and everything in between, the design professionals of Carrot Top have partnered with over 4 vendors to ensure that every customer can create a stylish and cohesive look they are sure to be proud of.
A new showroom isn’t the company’s only exciting announcement in 2023. Earlier this year, they launched yet another piece to their creative puzzle: a digital show called “Life by Design”. “We are filming the lifestyle here at Carrot Top while showcasing the design selection process we assist our clients with. Cabinetry computer designs, various construction remodels or new builds, and also the final furnishing of clients’ homes will be featured in the show,” Simpson said. The show can be viewed on various social media platforms. Still, even more impressively, it can be watched on their new mobile app, “Carrot Top Tv.” The company’s new free app provides entertainment and allows users to shop, learn, and connect with the team.
