Luxury high-rise Solis will soon make its mark on the white-sand shores of Orange Beach, Alabama. Quieter than 30A and neighbor Gulf Shores, Orange Beach is fast becoming a destination for families across Texas and the Southeast. And Solis is about to raise the bar on premium beachfront accommodations, with 24 stories of 132 upscale residences offering breathtaking views of the beaches below.
Other than its towering height, a touch of Hollywood Art Deco glamor will make Solis stand out among other beachfront properties. “[The design is] a little more cosmopolitan, and a little more upscale,” says Emma Daniell of Forrest Daniell & Associates, the architecture firm behind Solis.
Forrest Daniell, himself a resident of South Alabama, designed nearby Turquoise Place as well as 18 other highrises along the Gulf Coast. When asked why he chose Art Deco for Solis, he said, “People come to the beach as an escape. Art Deco is a fun style with a lot of flexibility.”
ART DECO GRANDEUR MEETS SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY
But this is still a beach town, and Solis is designed specifically for families seeking fun and togetherness. Open-concept kitchens with modern fixtures and finishes will spill into expansive living areas perfect for board game nights or gathering around a football game. Outside, spacious balconies will offer stunning views. “We created a boomerang shape to maximize the linear feet facing the water,” said Daniell, who was selected by developer The Leaven Group. Every last detail is intended to facilitate the excitement and relaxation of travel, without families having to leave behind the creature comforts of home. Each bedroom, for example, will have an ensuite bathroom.
Situated between the emerald green waters of the gulf and a nature preserve, Solis will offer easy access to hiking, boating, fishing, biking, and championship golf courses—in addition to the activities inherent to a beachfront property. Daniell, who enjoys riding the Hugh Branyon Trail with his family, designed Solis with 360-degree views in mind. “The building is on a unique
piece of beachfront,” he said. “You have the gulf, but you’ve got the state park next to you, so your view to the east is protected.”
DO IT ALL OR DO NOTHING AT ALL
In the unlikely event that Solis residents run out of things to do, Coastal Restaurant and Beach Bar is a short walk away. They can also hop in the car for a ten-minute drive to the Wharf, a local destination brimming with boutiques, restaurants, and an amphitheater. In recent years, it’s hosted major acts such as Dave Matthews Band, Kenny Chesney, and James Taylor.
Plus, Solis will pack plenty of fun into the building itself, boasting a tiki bar, in-lobby barista, lazy river, cabanas, water slides, and indoor and outdoor pools.
For families seeking a vacation spot all their own, Solis offers options. “Buying at Solis is going to feel like building a custom home. You’ll be able to pick out cabinets, countertops, and flooring,” says Cindy Grice of RE/MAX Paradise, the exclusive realtor for the property. Solis will be built by B.L. Harbert International.
NOW IT’S EASIER TO PUT DOWN ROOTS IN SANDY SOIL
Buyers can choose from two-, three-, four-, and five bedroom units averaging 3,000 square feet—plenty of space for families who want to vacation alone or with friends. In fact, a 5-bedroom at Solis is projected to rent for as much as $1,700/day in peak season, making it an attractive investment opportunity. Orange Beach drew 8 million visitors last year alone. And with copious amenities and concierge services, Solis’s height won’t be the only thing topping every other property in its vicinity.
