Cycle Joint - Electric Bikes Revitalize the Human Connection

Cycle Joint and electric bikes are bridging the gap between social distancing and personal relationships, making it possible for people of varying strength and stamina to enjoy time together outside. Before “global pandemic” was an everyday household phrase, electric bikes (ebikes) gained popularity at lightning speed. While Covid brought many industries to a near-halt, it has been a catalyst to the cycling resurgence.

Essentially motorized bikes with speeds reaching 20 to 28 miles per hour, ebikes use a rechargeable electric motor to assist with pedaling. By law, they are classified as a bicycle and, under Florida law, can be ridden cautiously on sidewalks, roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less, bike paths, and dirt paths. Ebikes are quite versatile and only require a standard wall outlet for charging. Many ebikes can travel more than 25 miles on a single charge, and most have an easy-to-read LCD screen to help riders track mileage and better manage battery life.

The ebike explosion makes it possible for bike trips to include multi-generational groups allowing those who otherwise might not be able to participate to enjoy lengthier – more aggressive – rides with their children and grandchildren. They are also a great introduction to cycling vacations for the less experienced riders. Ebikes are growing especially prevalent among those who are not avid cyclists but want to reduce their dependency on gasoline-based vehicles.

While there are many makes and models, the perfect ebike depends on the rider. As with a regular bicycle, riders need to find a bike that fits them physically, meets their usage needs, and has the necessary components and features. Although online shopping is quick and easy, this is one purchase where hands-on support is best. “When selecting an ebike, touch, feel, and comparison rides are just as important as finding a bike that physically fits the rider,” notes Cycle Joint’s Bruce Camacho. “From fitness to recreation to utility, people do not always realize how much they are going to use the bike.”

The electric vehicle lifestyle enamors Camacho. He recognized the shift in transportation from gas to electric while working for Harley-Davidson. “I saw the shift happening in bigger cities, and I wanted to bring it to Pensacola,” he continues. At less than two years old, Cycle Joint’s guided and unguided tours have quickly taken their place on Trip Advisors list of the 10 Best Things to Do in Pensacola

In addition to fitting buyers with the right ebike, Cycle Joint offers guided and unguided electric bike tours of Pensacola. Locals and tourists alike enjoy touring Historic Downtown Pensacola, brewery tours, and church tours while cruising around on retro-inspired Super 73 electric motorbikes. As if their tours were not fun enough, Cycle Joint electric bike tours stand out because they are the only bike tour company along the Gulf Coast – nay the East Coast – to utilize Bluetooth communication helmets. “The helmets not only protect the riders, but it allows groups to talk to each other through an in-helmet intercom system,” he shares.

Perfect for date nights – ebike tours are a great way for families and friends to spend time together while enjoying the sun and fresh air. They allow you to cover more ground, experience more things at your own pace, and see familiar areas in a new way. Passenger-wise, there is no age limit. Electric bikes easily accommodate bike seats and are strong enough to pull tow behind bike trailers. “Some people even bring along their dogs,” notes Camacho with a smile. “It’s not about getting from Point A to Point B,” he says, “it’s about getting there with a smile.” Cycle Joint makes the journey just as much fun as the destination.
