The American Heart Society - Art for Heart

The American Heart Association is dedicated to the mission of saving lives by funding innovative research, advocating for stronger public health policies, and sharing lifesaving resources and information. Along the Alabama Gulf Coast, the AHA raises funds and awareness for this lifesaving endeavor primarily through its “Art for Heart” Gala and Live Auction. The 27th annual Baldwin Art for Heart event will be held on Saturday, April 6, in Fairhope, at the Barn at Chapel Farm on the property of Jeanna and Rodney Pilot. Donna Burns, event co-chair along with April DePaola, says, “We are beyond grateful to the Pilots for opening their beautiful grounds and amazing barn for this worthy cause. Their generosity makes it possible for us to stage a lovely, fun event that will raise the necessary funds to continue our important work in the fight against heart disease.”

Funds raised through ticket sales, sponsorships, the live and silent auctions, and Open Your Heart contributions go a long way in impacting the lives of men, women, and children in South Alabama by supporting cardiovascular research, professions and community education, and advocacy efforts. “Each year, this event provides an opportunity for medical professionals, corporate leaders, and community members to come together to have a great time and to celebrate and support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association,” says Burns. The live auction, in particular, brings an element of excitement to the evening. In recent years, the auction has featured such items as tickets to the CMT Awards in Nashville, a Safari Trip, vacation getaways, and charter boat outings.

In addition to raising funds, the event honors individuals in the community who have contributed significant time, effort, and expertise in the fight against heart disease. This year’s medical honoree is Dr. Robert Robichaux of Cardiology Associates. The community honoree is Jennifer Blanchard of Gulf Chrysler Dodge Jeep. The Heart Heroes are Coach Mark Lasseter and Coach Phil Lazenby, both of Bayside Academy in Daphne AL, and the Signature Sponsor is South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.

“Art for Heart supporters will help us to connect, innovate, influence, and invest in advancing our efforts to change health outcomes as they relate to heart disease and stroke,” says Bridgett Dunn, AHA Senior Regional Director. “Art for Heart celebrates these efforts to build a foundation of health in our community and ensure everyone lives longer and healthier lives. The evening festivities will include dinner, a silent auction, and an exciting live auction with great items and opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to Open Your Heart and further support the mission and efforts of the American Heart Association in its critical mission.”
