Situated in the picturesque community of WaterColor on Vermillion, this stunning vernacular-style home seamlessly blends traditional architectural elements with modern interior design. This refined second residence, created by Gregory D. Jazayeri Design for a Louisiana client, embodies architectural integrity and a passion for global art.
“From the outset, the client played an active role in the design process, curating a collection of art pieces from around the world, which imbues the home with a unique and personal touch,” Jazayeri reflects. Around every corner are elements of surprise and the overarching narrative. The resulting environment feels both curated yet lived-in, where the story of travel and design effortlessly merges with the rhythm of daily life on the Gulf Coast.

When entering the home, guests are greeted by a breathtaking staircase, a striking focal point of the design that commands attention. This masterpiece, constructed by Saltwater Steel in Freeport, Florida, is a testament to the value and quality of Jazayeri’s vision. “The floating staircase, anchored by steel I-beam columns, exudes an industrial yet elegant aesthetic,” Jazayeri adds, emphasizing its sophistication and style. The play of shadow and structure sets the tone for the rest of the home. Craftsmanship and clean architectural lines.
The home boasts a stunning pool and cabana area with breathtaking panoramic views of the serene Western Lake. Enveloped by the canopy of surrounding trees, these outdoor spaces create a secluded oasis, blurring the lines between nature and architecture. The cabana and dramatic see-through fireplace enhances the outdoor ambiance making it ideal for relaxation and entertainment. It quickly becomes the heart of alfresco gatherings, inviting quiet mornings and vibrant evenings.

The spacious living room is a luminous masterpiece, extending two stories high with expansive windows framing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. This design floods the space with natural light, creating a serene atmosphere. The soaring volume, paired with curated textures and coastal tones, evokes tranquility. A sizable linear fireplace is a central feature, adding warmth and modern sophistication to the interior. Flanked by tailored furnishings and natural finishes, the space invites conversation but also reflection.
Gregory Jazayeri and his talented team meticulously crafted the lighting details and ceiling treatments to ensure a harmonious blend of form and function throughout the home. They thoughtfully executed every detail, creating a visually stunning and deeply personal space, from architectural elements to interior finishes. From the soft glow of recessed lighting accentuating wood textures to the layered ceiling profiles guiding the eye through each room, the design invites quiet discovery. Subtle transitions in material and tone create movement, while custom fixtures and millwork provide an understated elegance anchoring each space.

This WaterColor residence exemplifies the fusion of traditional architecture with contemporary luxury, offering its owner a retreat that celebrates artistry, craftsmanship, and the beauty of its natural surroundings. The home elevates its site by becoming part of the landscape through architectural rhythm, thoughtful placement, and a timeless coastal charm. Here, architecture breathes: opening effortlessly to the elements, responding to light and shadow, and creating a living dialogue between structure and setting that is grounded and alive.
