Curated Comfort and Charming Luxury on the Point Washington Water, and Character

Photography by John McCain

In Point Washington, where tall pines frame the water and a canal stretches quietly toward Choctawhatchee Bay, sits a home that feels both grand and cozy. It embodies the art of comfortable luxury — crafted with a builder’s precision and a designer’s vision. At the helm are Trisha and Brett Henry, the husband-and-wife duo behind The Henry Haus and Coastline Custom Builders, who together have created a home defined by easy refinement.

A Vision Mirroring a Personal Philosophy

The Henrys built their residence as both a personal retreat and a reflection of their design philosophy.

“We wanted a home that feels designed but also livable,” Trisha explains. “A place where you can elegantly entertain, host Saturday football gatherings, and still have children come in from the pool without worry.” Every space — from its curated finishes to its thoughtful layout — is shaped around the balance of beauty and function.

The Heart of the Haus

At the center lies the primary gourmet kitchen, a showcase of refined functionality. Quartzite countertops offer durability and elegance, while a 48-inch gas range with a custom vent hood and pot filler anchor the space. A Sub-Zero refrigerator, oversized island with seating, and brass pendant lighting complete the picture. It’s a kitchen built for gathering, conversation, and the daily rhythm of family life.

Just beyond, though seamlessly connected, is one of the home’s most remarkable features: a butler’s pantry designed as a full prep kitchen. Outfitted with additional appliances, expansive counters, and generous storage, it supports cooking while keeping the main kitchen free for gatherings.

Linking the two spaces is a coffee bar, offering cohesive convenience. Together, the three zones form a culinary suite that’s rare in both design and execution — perfectly suited to the Henrys’ love of hosting and their belief in thoughtful detail.

Blending Family Treasures With Modern Trends

Throughout the home, the interiors reveal layers of character. Locally sourced pecky cypress beams span the ceilings, while a handcrafted cypress mantel completes the fireplace. Family heirlooms mingle with modern upholstery, textured wallpapers, and curated lighting. “It’s not a standard beach house,” Trisha says. “It’s a blend — a layering of old and new, of Florida character and family history.”

Waterjet marble tilework, custom cabinetry, and copper lighting sourced from Brett’s family factory in South Carolina elevate the design without overpowering it. Performance fabrics in pale tones prove that comfort and practicality can live alongside elegance. “If you like white, use white,” Trisha adds. “You can clean it. Don’t be afraid to live in your house.”

Luxuriously Designed for Comfortable Living

The living areas are equally comfortable and beautiful. A broad oak coffee table, leather chairs, and soft upholstered sofas fill the main living room, which opens through French doors to the pool. Children’s areas are created with just as much intention — functional and playful while maintaining a clear sense of design. Every detail is meant to be used, not tiptoed around.

Outdoor Living as a Pivotal Destination

The home’s appeal extends outdoors, where a checkerboard-tiled pool and spa glisten in the Florida sun. The outdoor kitchen rivals its indoor counterpart with stainless appliances, spacious counters, and ample seating for guests. Ceiling fans stir the air, while the wooded canal backdrop ensures privacy. “We love to be outside,” Trisha says. “Outdoor living is an extension of how we spend our time.”

The Story and Vision Behind The Henry Haus

This Point Washington retreat also reflects the vision behind The Henry Haus, the couple’s Miramar Beach design studio. Envisioned in 2018 and brought to life in the following years, the studio offers clients and industry partners a place to collaborate together in one setting. “We wanted to create more than a showroom,” Trisha explains. “We wanted an experience.”

Today, The Henry Haus serves as both inspiration and resource — offering carefully curated collections of lighting, cabinetry, and finishes alongside full-service design to help clients bring their home design dreams to life. “Our collections are meant to elevate,” Trisha says. “They’re chosen to bring timeless beauty into everyday life.”

Comfortable Luxury Defined

The Point Washington home — with its layered interiors, culinary suite of kitchens, and inviting outdoor spaces — defines what the Henrys call comfortable luxury. It’s polished but never pretentious, livable without sacrificing elegance. It welcomes barefoot afternoons and lively evenings, children’s play and grown-up conversation — all under one roof.

For Trisha and Brett Henry, design is about more than materials. It’s about creating homes to fully live life in, with warmth and ease. This house, with its canal-side setting and timeless detail, does just that: a home meant to be lived in, loved, and cherished.
