Mississippi’s weeklong Cruisin’ The Coast extravaganza will surely get your motor running.

The majestic oak trees and scenic 30-mile stretch of highway overlooking the beaches of the Mississippi Gulf Coast provide an alluring backdrop for a one-of-a-kind car show and block party that takes place each October (come rain, shine, or COVID pandemic). Cruisin’ The Coast is an event that has been attracting classic car owners, auto enthusiasts, coastal-town lovers, and anyone looking for an all-around great time for the past 25 years. Dubbed “America’s Largest Block Party,” and with a few awards under its hood, including Best Car Show Competition from USA Today, Cruisin’ The Coast attracts thousands of visitors from near and far, all of whom make their way to Mississippi each year to see the close to 10,000 antique, classic, and hot rod vehicles registered and showcased at this unique show.

Running for a full seven days (from Sunday to Sunday), with an agenda packed with parties, parades, meet and greets, live concerts, casino events, a swap meet, a sock hop, and more, there’s ample opportunity for attendees to enjoy their time no matter when they arrive or how long they stay. This year’s festivities will take place October 3-10.

Whether you’ve got a car registered in the event or are just an admirer, start your exploration at Cruise Central, located at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport, and let the 12 Host Car Clubs that provide the 700 volunteers help guide you. Yes, you heard that right, there are 700 volunteers. The event runs like a well-oiled machine (or should we say classic car?). There’s a lot to see and do, and trust us, you don’t want to miss any of it.

As you cruise up and down Highway 90, be sure to experience the endless charm of the seven coastal towns marked as designated stops for attendees: Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Gulfport, Biloxi, D’Iberville, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula. Each has its own events, and all of them are perfect pit stops for tasty bites to eat and unique local attractions. From museums to historical homes, aquatic centers to casinos, there’s always a bit more to see on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. And the hospitality is second to none, with the endless “Welcome Cruisers” signs and smiling faces of the locals helping direct you where you need to go.

It’s not all hustle and bustle, though. Between events, you can sit and view the colorful motorcade ride up and down Highway 90. (Lawn chairs, coolers, and sunscreen are encouraged.) From the many waterfront parking opportunities at area shops, beaches, and restaurants, we’re sure you’ll find boundless spectating spots along this picturesque stretch of roadway. For an added benefit, take in a part of the Mississippi coast’s bounty as you delight in scrumptious Gulf seafood at the likes of The Chimneys and Half Shell Oyster House in Gulfport and Mary Mahoney’s and White Pillars in Biloxi, each residing in beautiful, historical structures.

Seeking a comfy room to rest your head after a busy day? Look no further than the local resorts that boast everything from luxurious spas and pools to outstanding restaurants, gaming, and nightlife. Proud sponsors of the Cruisin’ The Coast event, these world-class casino retreats roll out the red carpet for “cruisers” and are intent on showing guests an exceptional time. From the noteworthy Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi to local favorite the Island View Casino Resort in Gulfport, we guarantee you’ll find an accommodation fit for a king. (A full list of these welcoming hosts can be found on the event’s website under “Sponsorship”).

So polish up the car, start planning your escape to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and join us for this block party like no other.
