Gulf Coast Construction of N.W. Florida, Inc. the custom home builder for this intracoastal waterfront home, came to Eastburn Woodworks wanting their kitchen cabinets built from old barn wood. Due to material constraints Eastburn Woodworks was unable to use authentic barn wood and instead created a custom finish just for the Fish Camp Kitchen. The inspiration for the Old Barn Wood finish seen on the kitchen island and shelves came from photographs provided to Eastburn Woodworks by the homeowners. This look of aged barn wood was accomplished through a multi-step ageing process that involves a wire brushing machine.
Another unique feature of the Fish Camp Kitchen is the shelving found on either side of the kitchen hood. Building these shelves comprised the use of a pipe threading machine. It is uncommon for a cabinet shop to possess a pipe threading machine and a wire brush machine. Eastburn Woodworks is however, one of the few, if not the only cabinet shop in town that owns this machinery. Consequently, they were able to construct this beautiful home’s cabinetry exclusively in their own shop.
